Haszari – It’s Not Real (Aural Trash “Pass The Dutchie” remix)

Genres Tech House/Techno, Fidget/Electro, Deep Spaced
Released
OUT NOW, available via Juno / Amazon / iTunes / eMusic and others

The next in Cartoon Beats Records’s series of double-A-side EPs is out – and it comes with some heavyweight clout in the remixes, with the likes of Aural Trash & Greg Churchill delivering pounding electro & techno reworkings and LA’s Snake Charmer getting all fidgety and dubbed out at the same time. The originals from Haszari & nsu are more in a deep / tech house vein and definitely pack a punch down in the lower frequencies.

Next on the agenda – CBR004 – SoNic Smith & Haszari give some well known baroque harmonies a disturbed & distorted electro update, with remixes from nsu.

HUSSIES – Miss Anthropy

HussiesSup Stiflers,

The first single, Miss Anthropy, from Muzai Records latest signing, HUSSIES, has just been added to Starlifter Radio.

Here’s the press deets:

Unapologetic Sharpie Crows members Casey James Latimer and Jackson Hobbs sell out, sign to MUZAI Records and write a pop album, as “Miss Anthropy”, the first single from the group, sets out to show.

Maybe the label’s best kept secret, or worse job at publicity since it began, “Miss Anthropy” was previously debuted as a video on popular music website Under The Radar a couple of moons ago, with the group assuming the name Girls Pissing at that juncture of their musical life. Having boasted of an album of “pop wank” that the kids will enjoy, Hussies as they have come to call themselves really have delivered the goods – “Miss Anthropy” is pleasurable pop. Grey Headed Ghosts is a pleasurable pop album.

It’s so joyous that excited Australian A&R man Chris Ramjet has gone as far as to claim he’d “… eat my own urethra if it isn’t the best old-school pop album released this year.”

Grey Headed Ghosts will be released by MUZAI Records mid November; our last release of the year and the perfect way to set up for the summer holiday that awaits.

Ed Muzik ‘Appetite for Burritos’ Tour

Ed Muzik - Appetite for Burritos tour

Ed Muzik and the Burning Sensations
APPETITE FOR BURRITOS TOUR
present the …
Ed Muzik and his band The Burning Sensations will be packing their stomachs when they head out
on their “Appetite for Destruction” tour this November, with four shows across both islands –
including one show in a real-life fish and chip shop. The tour starts in quake-stricken Canterbury,
with a show at the now thankfully re-opened Wunderbar in Lyttelton. The show is on Thursday the
11th, which is the night before Canterbury Anniversary day – so people have no excuse not to come
out and party. After that, the band will load up on grease at Funk n Fish Chips, before jumping
across the strait for a show at Wellington’s Mighty Mighty. The tour finishes off with the band’s
appearance at the City Showcase festival in Napier.
Ed explains the theme of the tour; “The last time we went on tour, we were always thinking about
what we’d be eating that night. We had all sorts of culinary delicacies – Thai, Mexican, burgers,
pancakes, mulled wine, even hangi pies on the ferry. Unfortunately, now the band wont come on
tour unless I promise top-shelf catering.” The tour will feature a show in central Christchurch
chippery, Funk n Fish n Chips. Ed explains “They’re known to have DJ’s and be open late at the
weekend. We thought it would be great if we got a band in there, especially as they’ve been
suffering post-quake, with all the road closures, and now the councils ridiculous tram extension
vanity project. Plus, we’ll get paid in deep-fried goods, which is a win-win really.” Oh, and the
name of the tour also allowed the band to rip-off the cover of Guns n Roses seminal 1988 album
Appetite for Destruction, which may have had more than a small thing to do with it.
The tour coincides with the release of some new songs, including new single “A Song Falls In The
Woods”. The tracks are freely available on the Ed Muzik website and bandcamp, and will hopefully
be on the upcoming Ed Muzik long-player, which will be coming out “er, soon, hopefully”
according to Ed.
